RENFE, 2-unit pack 5000 coaches, AAR bar + BB1 2nd class, "Estrella" livery, ep. IV. Arnold HN4479
Sale 3th quarter 2024
By the late 1980s, express and night trains that had not yet been converted to 160 km/h were experiencing a shortage of rolling stock, including for cafeteria and dining services, as well as seating capacity. As a result, RENFE was forced to reintroduce some of the recently decommissioned 5000 series coaches. In 1987, two mixed AAR coaches were redecorated with the prevailing "Estrella" livery of the time, featuring different company logos on each. Later, the same operation was carried out on a BB1 type coach, reclassified as second class and incorporating a third variation of the logo in its most modern format.
At Arnold, we have produced the HN4479 set, consisting of two of these coaches. The first replicates the mixed-cafeteria AAR-5098, with all its peculiarities such as logos without the outer ring and window frames painted brown like the rest of the bodywork. The second coach is the BB1-5245, featuring modern typography and updated logos. Both coaches feature interior lighting and are ideal for complementing any passenger composition of their time, bringing the characteristic elegance of this vibrant livery.
